Small Town Saturday Night - Community Contest

The Big Valley Jamboree and Travel Alberta will be bringing a "mini jamboree" to one lucky Alberta community in 2012!! - Applications are due March 2, 2012

For 19 years, Big Valley Jamboree has enjoyed the support of hundreds of thousands of loyal fans from across North America. A major part of that support comes from rural communities throughout Alberta. As a “thank-you” for this ongoing support, Big Valley Jamboree and Travel Alberta will award one small town in Alberta a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help put your small town on the map.

In 2012, we’ll bring a “mini” Big Valley Jamboree to one lucky rural Alberta community. All the excitement of the festival, including some of Canada’s finest country music entertainers, could be coming to YOUR small town! We call it “Small Town Saturday Night”, you’ll call it “one incredibly unforgettable, amazing, mind-blowing experience!”

It’s easy to enter: simply pick up your video camera and show us why YOUR is community special and why it is the best place for the Big Valley Jamboree “Small Town Saturday Night.” Upload the video to YouTube, then wait to see if your community is one of five small towns who will be in the running to win Small Town Saturday Night. Then get your friends, neighbours, and your entire community to vote for your video online to win! The competition promises to be a lot of fun, culminating in an incredible “Small Town Saturday Night” somewhere in rural Alberta in April 2012.

LOCAL CAUSE, CHARITY, or NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
The involvement of a legitimate local cause, charity or non-profit organization is required in this project so that proceeds from concert ticket sales of Small Town Saturday Night will go towards that organization and not a to a private group or individuals. The chosen organization shall receive all revenue from ticket sales for the concert portion of the event. In return that organization or members of the organizing committee will provide volunteers to work alongside Big Valley Jamboree to plan the event.

WHAT YOUR VIDEO SUBMISSION MUST CONTAIN
Showcase your community and tell everyone why it is the best candidate for the Travel Alberta Big Valley Jamboree Small Town Saturday Night. Videos should be limited to 2 minutes in length. Here are a few basics on what to include in your video submission. However, add anything else you feel is important.
  • Name and location of your community
  • Why someone should visit your community, what are the local attractions?
  • Venue where the event will occur, and what other events take place there
  • Highlight other events that take place in your community
  • A feature on the local charity or non profit organization that will be involved
  • Show the support of people around the community for this event
  • Show support and knowledge of country music and Big Valley Jamboree
  • Feature the organizing committee

At the end of the day you are only limited by your imagination and creativity.
