Art in the Park 2012 - Call for Artists

Event Date: Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 10:30am to 4pm
Registration deadline: August 20, 2012

Call for Artists
MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery and the Wood Buffalo Artists Forum are organizing Art in the Park 2012.

Local artists (2D and 3D) working in different media are invited to participate in this one day event outside MacDonald Island Park. Those participating will be provided with a great opportunity to display and promote their artwork and art practice.

Being part of this event will be an all-around fun time, while enjoying art and music with the community.  Fort McMurray is full of talented artists and we would like to see your talent exposed to the public. We would like to make this an annual event and gain sponsorship and awareness for the art community turning it into a thriving community project that all may enjoy. We believe that events focused on art are positive and beneficial to the community.

This family oriented free event is created to celebrate our partnership with many visual art organizations and community members. There will be artist’s demonstrations as well as workshops for children, youth and adults.

Categories
There are two categories:

1.   Visual Arts Organizations: All Visual Arts Organizations in Wood Buffalo are invited to host demonstrations and activities with the public.  The goal is to reach those who are interested in joining or participating in your organizations.  (example: demonstrate pottery to recruit new members to the Pottery Guild)

2.   Individual artists: To promote, sell or advertise your artwork. Artists are encouraged to create a piece of artwork through the event.  There will be interaction with visitors.  You will be provided with a table and two chairs.

Art supplies for workshops will be supplied.

Promotional Material
Art in the Park reserves the right to use the pictures and video taken at the event for marketing and promotional purposes.

Pricing
MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery
and the Wood Buffalo Artists Forum believe in the value of original artwork. To maintain this integrity, signs offering pricing discounts, reduced prices, or other materials of this nature are not permitted to be displayed. Booth identification signage should be of professional quality.

Entry Fees
There are no entry fees for artists or arts organizations.
