Call to Artists: City of Calgary Public Art Program

Call to Artists : Mentorship Opportunity

The City of Calgary Public Art Program, in conjunction with the Utilities & Environmental Protection department, invites Alberta artists to submit their qualifications for four distinct WATERSHED+ public art mentorship opportunities.

WATERSHED+ is a visionary pilot program which aspires to creatively renew the relationship between Calgarians and their watershed. The program presents a unique approach to public art and a distinct way of working within City departments, the public, and stakeholders. Artists and artistic practitioners are embedded within Water Services and Water Resources, participating as members of infrastructure design teams, and contributing to project design, development of events, community projects, education and communication.

As part of the WATERSHED+ pilot, mentorship opportunities are being offered to Alberta artists who are interested in the field of contemporary public art, specifically in the areas of:
  1. Public art project development and implementation
  2. Visualization and design
  3. Self-directed public art projects
  4. Audit of process - specific WATERSHED+ project

Submission deadline: Deadline for all four opportunities is Friday, February 17, 2012 at 4 p.m. (MST). No extensions will be granted and late submissions will not be considered.
