Second Annual Métis Fest

Fort McMurray Métis Local 1935

Fort McMurray Métis Local 1935 is very pleased to announce that we will be hosting our Second Annual Métis Fest on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. We would like to invite you to take part.

The day will be filled with exciting and interesting Métis theme-based activities centered around:
  • Cultural entertainment
  • Interactive participation in cultural activities
  • Games, arts & crafts
  • Food and refreshments
  • History
  • Education & membership information
This will be a rain or shine event. There will be campfires, jigging, fiddling, moose calling, games and traditional Métis cuisine. Our line-up of entertainment will be outstanding with Master Métis fiddler John Arcand accompanied by Vickie Arcand. The Asham Stompers will dance their way into your hearts with a high energy jigging extravaganza. Dress comfortably for the occasion and the weather. Please park at the Sawridge Conference Centre and shuttle across to the Métis grounds.

Our goal is to engage youth and our community, both Métis and non aboriginal, so that our history is passed on to the next generation. We are anticipating you will be able to join us for a fun filled day rich in Métis culture, cuisine and games.
