Social Policy Framework general invite

September 24, 2012 - 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Northeast Child & Family Services Authority Board
For information call: 780-743-7452

We are writing on behalf of the Board of the Northeast Alberta Child and Family Services Authority to invite you to participate in a community discussion on the development of the governments’ social policy framework.

Your input is needed to help create a social policy framework that will guide the future of Alberta’s social policies and programs. Social policy is about how individuals, communities and government come together to address social challenges, create conditions for the well-being of Albertans, and support people who need help to meet their own needs.

Participate in the Speak. Share. Thrive. interactive public engagement and share your ideas about how we can meet our needs and aspirations in areas like housing, employment, safety and security, and childcare.

The social policy framework will provide direction for how communities, business, governments, non-profit organizations and others work together to give all Albertans the opportunity to live in dignity and contribute to society. It will also help guide discussions about the Premier's commitment to eliminate child poverty and reduce overall poverty in Alberta.

You may also visit to join this important conversation: type your ideas in the wiki, take the survey, respond to a blog, or take part in a discussion in your community.

Please feel free to distribute this letter to your staff, colleagues or network contacts who may be interested in attending the community discussion.

The Northeast Child and Family Services Authority is hosting a discussion session to hear your ideas for the social policy framework. Please join us on September 24 at the Golden Years’ Society building located at 10111 Main Street, Fort McMurray from nine am to eleven am. Please RSVP to Cindy Samson by telephone at 780-743-7452 or by email at

Yours truly,

Tracy McKinnon
