Help Keep Fort McMurray Clean with Our Fall Clean-Up Programs

Winter is near, and fall is in the air. The following are programs that you can get involved with to help prepare Wood Buffalo for the winter season.

Fall Community Clean-Up
Help combat litter and raise community awareness. The Fall Community Clean-Up campaign will take place from September 9-19. Volunteer to clean-up a block, road, park or trail. Free bags and gloves will be supplied. Get involved and help keep our region clean and beautiful.

Fall Highway 63 Clean-Up event
Show your support in maintaining the beauty of our region by getting involved with the Highway 63/69 Clean-Up event taking place on Saturday, September 18.

Sign up as a group, or as an individual. Individuals will be assigned to join a group. Sections are 1 km, 1.5 km or 2 km long and will be assigned based on the size of each group. There will be two start times; 8:45am and 12:45pm. Please indicate your preference for start time when registering.

Commitment is approximately 3.5 hours on the day of the clean-up event. A safety training session and shuttle service will be provided to and from the highway, as well as safety vests, latex gloves and garbage bags. A BBQ lunch will be provided for all participants before or after their assigned time.

For the safety of our participants, minimum age for participation is 9 years old for Highway 69 clean-up and 18 years of age or older for Highway 63 clean-up. Please register for the Highway Clean-Up Event by September 14. This program makes a great team building event while doing great things for our environment!

Pick and Click Photo Contest
Register to be a part of any community clean-up event (Fall Clean-Up, Adopt-A-Trail/Roadway, Highway Clean-Up) and enter your clean-up photos in the annual Pick and Click Photo Contest. The contest features three categories for entry, including; Best Team Photo, Most Interesting Find and Best Clean-Up Action Shot. Winning submissions will win a $300 gift certificate sponsored by the Peter Pond Shopping Centre. Deadline for entry is September 27, 2010.
