Art Gallery of Alberta Looking for a Graphic Designer
The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) has a great opportunity for a graphic designer with strong print and online design experience, along with conceptual and art direction skills to join its Marketing and Communications team. This exciting position is responsible for the creation and production of print and digital marketing collateral and advertising. As part of the Marketing and Communications team, the Graphic Designer contributes to conceptualization of advertising campaigns, ensures brand consistency in visual materials and supports design requirements across AGA departments. In addition to a portfolio of great work, the successful candidate will be highly organized with a proven ability to work independently, deliver on deadline and manage multiple projects at one time. Experience working within arts and culture is an asset.
Duties and Responsibilities
Print design: ads, brochures, posters, multi-page documents, signage, invitations and e-vites
Print production: securing quotes, liaising with printers, ensuring files are properly prepared for output to print
Design for online marketing campaigns and e-vites
Creating identities for public programs and events
Digital asset management
Presentation of concepts
Assess and apply brand standards and guidelines
Working collaboratively with Digital Media Coordinator and Curatorial Designer to ensure consistent presentation of design throughout the AGA and its communications platforms
Other duties as required
Qualifications
An applicable diploma or degree in Design and Visual Communications
3-5 years experience in a similar role
Strong organizational and project management skills
Experience working with printers and other suppliers, including large format signage and vinyl output
Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for design and production including Photoshop, illustrator and InDesign
Photography
Well developed verbal and visual presentation and communication skills
Strong interest in the visual arts and experience working or volunteering in the arts is desirable
This is a full-time permanent position. A competitive compensation package, including extended health benefits, is offered.
