Artist Talk- Wednesday, July 30th at 6:30 pm



On Wednesday, July 30 at 6:30 pm,  two of this year's Artists in Residency, Liana Wheeldon & Penny Seilyon Chun, will be offering special presentations about their work. Come to their Snye Studio in the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery and learn about their creative process!

This is a FREE event and there will be complimentary snacks and beverages for you to enjoy!

Wood Buffalo AIR Artist Talk - Sonia Burke Smith

Join us on Wednesday August 7, 2013 to learn about Sonia Burke-Smith, one of the artists who is working in the Fort McMurray Studio during the 2013 Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency Program.

Sonia will discuss her process and background and how her art has influenced the world around her.  Join in the discussion and participate in the activities that Sonia has planned.

Each of the seven artists in the AIR program will be giving a fifteen to twenty minute Artist's Talk over the summer. During their talk the artists will discuss their history, practice and works. After each Talk there will be time for a question and answer period.

Please join us for this free public event and get to know each of the AIR artists during their individual Artist's Talk.

Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency: Open House Series

The Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency Program presents the 2012 Open House Series featuring artists working in Fort McMurray.  This six-part series takes place every Sunday from 1:00pm – 4:00pm which began on July 15 and is running until August 19.  This series will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic High School in the art room. Artists Janet (Dean) Procure and Alisdair MacRae will be located in a studio at the Mamawi Community Hall in Fort Chipewyan throughout August 2012.

Mia Feuer, Artists Talk



The Wood Buffalo Artists Forum and MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery would like to invite you to an artist talk by Mia Feuer on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 4:00 pm. at MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery (second room at the Art Gallery).

Mia Feuer is a Canadian artist based in Washington, D.C. With a MFA in Sculptor from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Mia's sculptures-installations are exhibit in Art Galleries and Museums around the world. Mia explores the geography, infrastructure, borders and spaces around the world to create her monumental sculptures. Currently, Mia is a Professor of sculpture at George Mason University and American University, Washington, D. C.
This event is an opportunity for artists, art students and general public to explore and learn about contemporary artists. This is a great chance to connect our community through the Arts.
