TEDx Fort McMurray 2013

TEDx Fort McMurray 2013

The TEDx Fort McMurray Organizing Committee are reaching out to the community to inquire if there is any interest from any community members for being a possible speakers and presenters at TEDx Fort McMurray 2013 on Saturday, June 8 featuring the theme “Shift in Thought”.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. The 2013 TEDx Fort McMurray event will be a combination of live presenters, cultural entertainment and TED Talks videos that will sparks deep conversation and connections.

There will be an information night scheduled for March 7 at 7pm at Holy Trinity High School prior to auditions to help interested presenters understand the audition process, clarify theme of the event and to provide TEDx guidelines that will help each speaker/presenter prepare. Their will also be an opportunity to meet and discuss with TEDx Fort McMurray 2012 speakers to gain a better understanding and learn about TEDx. Videos from all of last year’s presentation can be found on the TEDx Fort McMurray website – video webpage.

Auditions would occur in March and successful presenters will have a couple of months to rehearse and refine their presentation with an assigned coach. The expectation of the auditions is to present a vision or an outline that compliments the TEDx Fort McMurray theme. The details of presentations are not meant to be in final form but the idea needs to be clear and align with the theme of the event.

Last year, TEDx Fort McMurray featured 12 speakers, the organizing committee would like to add presenters: people who can tell a story not necessarily just presenting via a vocal dialogue but through creative interpretation of poetry, art, dance, music or culture. If you or someone you know would be interested in learning more, please pass on the information on.
