Community Car Rally supporting the Oilsands Rotary Music Festival

The Fort McMurray Oilsands Rotary Club is hosting a Community Car Rally supporting the Oilsands Rotary Music Festival, Saturday, April 18th.

"We are very excited about this event," shared Rotarian Joelle Wolverton. "With a family focus, we'll be sending participants on a tour of the city and each stop over will be hosted by a different community organization or not-for-profit where the kids will be entertained with various activities, while the adults will be able to participate in a blind poker rally. The day finishes up with a bbq at Vista Ridge where the poker rally prizes will be awarded. The grand prize of the poker rally being a 1977 Corvette.

38th Annual Oilsands Rotary Music Festival

The 38th Annual Oilsands Rotary Music Festival is a festival for Wood Buffalo residents who are studying "classical or serious" music or speech arts and are aged 4 to 28 years of age as of December 31st, 2012.

Students receive a written adjudication of the performances and may be recommended by the adjudicator to represent this festival at the Alberta Provincial Music Festival in Edmonton in June. They also may be eligible for awards and scholarships, funded by generous local individuals, service clubs, and businesses.

The entry deadline for Piano Plan I, Piano Plan II, Music Composition, Strings, Classical Guitar, Vocal, Musical Theatre, Choral, Choral Speech Gr. 6 & under, Speech Solos 11 & under, Band, Instrumental, and Handbells is Thursday, January 31st at 8 p.m.

The entry deadline for School Vocal, School Musical Theatre, School Choral Speech Gr. 7 & over and Speech Solos 12 & over is February 8th, 2013 at 8 p.m.
