Last night the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo's Artist in
Residency (AIR) program, in partnership with Arts Council Wood Buffalo,
hosted Inside the Artist Studio, a free
arts workshop featuring the Artists in Residence: Renny Hua, Ruddy Tuneeko,
Ruth Perry, and Luke Maddaford .
Each artist coordinated an activity,
giving the participants the opportunity to learn four different art techniques.
The first activity was taught by Reeny
Hua. She showed everyone how to create a layering effect on canvas using
masking tape.
Ruth Perry taught the group how to create
their own logos and designs that could be transferred onto a t-shirt or any
piece of fabric using an iron.
Luke Maddaford followed, teaching the
participants how to create their own Zine.
Ruddy Tuneeko finished the evening by
showing the group how to create their own sunset landscape.
Diana Moser, Special Projects
Coordinator for Arts Council Wood Buffalo, successfully managed the evening, keeping the group on
track while maintaining an easy flow between the activities while keeping a
relaxed and fun atmosphere.
The participants were a collection of
youth and adults who all shared an interest in creativity and art. They filled
the room with laughter, made new friends, and thoroughly enjoyed each activity.
The workshop allowed hardworking individuals the chance to escape their daily
routines and enjoy an evening of creativity in a community setting. Each
participant added their own creative flare to their pieces and each work was
unique!
The results of the evening could be seen
in the smiles of the participants and their creative works of art!
