Free Military and Peacekeeping Databases at Library and Archives Canada
If you are interested in the history of the Canadian military and peacekeeping then visit Library and Archives Canada's website at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/military-peace/index-e.html.
There are tons of free databases and collections to choose from!
For instance, you can look through the attestation papers (enlistment forms) of Canadians of the First World War- whether it be your own ancestors, famous journalists, painters, hockey players, or even former Prime Ministers!
These forms contain personal information such as the person's birthdate, address, next-of-kin, height, weight, eye colour and even scars! These forms are a great resource for family historians.
This photo is of John McCrae's attestation form. He is famous for writing the poem, "In Flanders Fields".
