Play in a Day

Keyano Theatre and Arts Centre is pleased to present Play in a Day! Facilitated by acclaimed Canadian playwright, and the new Artistic Director of Workshop West Theatre in Edmonton, Vern Thiessen.  Play in a Day is a community workshop focused on the art of dramatic writing.   The session is scheduled for Saturday, June 6^th and will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Vern leads a fun, entertaining and interactive workshop on the skills of dramatic writing. Got a story to tell? Vern will help you start your play and give you the tools to keep working on it!

Artist Bio – VERN THIESSEN

Vern Thiessen is one of Canada’s most produced playwrights. His plays Apple, Einstein’s Gift, Vimy, Lenin’s Embalmers, Shakespeare’s Will and Bird Brain have been produced around the world. He is the winner of a Sterling, Carol Bolt and Dora awards for Outstanding New Play. He is also the winner of the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama in 2003 and was a finalist in 2011. After seven years living in New York City, Vern has returned to Edmonton to be the Artistic Director of Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre. Fort McMurray residents may remember his production of Treasure Island in 2005.
