CELEBRATING CANADIAN DANCE!
Dance has been part of Canadian culture since explorers celebrated their achievements at the beginning of Canadian history, and as an essential element of Canadian aboriginal culture. As immigration alters national demographics, Canadian dance reflects an increasingly wide variety of ethno-cultural and inter-generational cultural expression. The Canadian Dance Assembly’s “I love dance/J’aime la danse” campaign is therefore envisioned as embracing all forms of dance expression. “I love dance/J’aime la danse” will motivate not only appreciation for choreographic and performance differences, but also help to create new inter-cultural dance opportunities.

The CDA’s “I love dance/J’aime la danse” campaign is designed to strengthen the visibility of dance organizations and individuals, as well as help develop unique benefits and services that will strengthen collaboration and commitment to the expansion and development of dance as integral to Canadian culture. Encouraging a cohesive and inclusive environment, the National Campaign is not only embracing the professional dance community but engaging youth groups, elders, amateurs as well as outreach to new immigrants. The project will advance dance through a focus on community inclusiveness, economic effectiveness, outreach and visibility across the country.
