Cultural Crossroads Workshop


The Centre for Race and Culture in partnership with The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo offers a Public Workshop Cultural Crossroads Workshop


Date: On October 6, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Merit Hotel, 8200 Franklin Avenue, Fort McMurray


No Registration Fee. Lunch will be provided

This workshop will be an exploration of cultural competency, diversity and inclusion practices in Alberta today. Diversity is no longer the goal – it is the reality and community, business, government and individuals will need to build capacity to address both the opportunities and the challenges of a changing and complex cultural context. This workshop will provide participants perspectives and tools to address cultural difference and diversity in the workplace and their communities.

Participants will:
Learn how to maximize the advantages and minimize the challenges of working with a diverse workforce
Be provided with intercultural communication tools that help build welcoming, inclusive and more productive workplaces and communities
Explore your own personal cultural identity and how this affects interactions across cultures
Learn new tools for effective Intercultural Communication

Who should attend:
Managers, supervisors, team leaders
Union leaders
Human resources professionals
Anyone interested in human rights issues
