MacDonald Island Park Art Exhibition
Submission deadline extended to January 5, 2011.
The Wood Buffalo Artists Forum announces the extension of the deadline for artists to submit photo’s of their work for the first exhibit at the Mac Island Gallery. The deadline has been moved from September 30, 2010 to the new date of January 5, 2011 because the official opening of the MacDonald Island Park Facility has been delayed until later in January.
We invite all regional visual artists to prepare original artwork (paintings, collage, photographs, drawings etc.) with the theme: “CELEBRATION!” We look forward to seeing your interpretation of this concept expressed in visual art.
Artists may send digital photographs (jpg or pdf) of their works to: Woodbuffalo.Artistsforum@Gmail.com by January 5th. Due to limited space, only one piece per artist will be chosen for this first exhibition.
For information on how to prepare your art for this exhibition please email: Woodbuffalo.Artistsforum@Gmail.com
We encourage all levels of artists to participate!

McMurray Girl....Hot New Magazine!!!

The first of it’s kind in this city, McMurray Girl is the hot new magazine for the savvy women of Fort McMurray! Shoppers, entrepreneurs, fashionistas and mothers alike – this is a magazine with something for every woman.

We offer a chic fix to all of the metropolitan McMurray Girls and a guide to all of the preferred shops and services for women. Through spotlights on real local women’s success stories and chances for residents to have their thoughts and recommendations published, this magazine joins a community of women who may otherwise feel isolated in this male-dominated city.

Like the women of Fort McMurray, this magazine truly is the total package! The vision of creative director and editor Kyla Getty, this magazine is a compilation of a well-rounded mix of articles, interviews, local spotlights and commentaries from real Fort McMurray women. Never forgetting to mix in some fun, (because that’s what us girls want to have) we add games, recipes and the local ‘buzz’. We aspire to inspire positivity and fun into the lives of McMurray Girls.

We encourage sharing! We are women. We are intelligent. Let’s face it, we have a lot to say and even more to contribute. It’s time to celebrate the power of the woman in Fort McMurray.

This magazine offers an invaluable chance to join together as a community of dynamic women. This magazine is made for us, by us. Consider yourself a reporter – and we are all ‘live on location’. We encourage our audience to become the authors by contributing the thoughts, ideas and recommendations to the editor that will become the articles. The participation of the local women to create a true reference guide to life in Fort Mac is the backbone of our publication.

It’s time to celebrate all that Fort McMurray has to offer bright, intelligent women! This magazine will single-handedly join and define this unique group of vibrant ladies who demand the best out of life in Fort McMurray!

McMurray Girl will launch in October. More information will be posted soon.
